From Schubert to Zappa – Animando goes Rock
The two young talents from Lucca will open tonight, at 9.15 p.m., the summer season of Animando called Musica d’estate at the Casermetta San Pietro, on the Walls, in front of the Villaggio del Fanciullo. The double bassist Valentina Ciardelli and the pianist Stefano Teani will present a concert that goes from the classical music of 19th century to contemporary compositions.
These two musicians will pass with great ease from one musical field to the other, painting some “portraits” of the authors. We will start with Franz Schubert and his “Sonata in A minor – Arpeggione”, three movements with a particular charme, very singable and soft, full of melancholy. From there they will jump forward in time, performing Blessed relief by Frank Zappa, 1972, a relaxing and suggestive piece. There will be room for contemporary music as well – the one composed by the pianist Stefano Teani himself, with his Father Giacomo, nella mente di un operista, and the one written by the conductor of the Orchestra symphonique du sud guest, Bernard Salles.
Then some bites from Khroma Zone, work of the American John Alexander, a specialist of thumbnails of compositions for double bass and piano. We will go back to the 19th century with the air Apri la tua finestra from the symbolist opera Iris by Pietro Mascagni. A homage to the genius of Frank Zappa will close the concert with Peaches en Regalia, instrumental piece of 1970 full of jazz influences. Free entry.
